Fed 2 exposure problem - What is it?

If i didn't wish to tinker, i'd send it to fedka as linked above,
usually a curtain dragging is just a symptom of the lack of oil in the works.
Simply adjusting the tension without knowing that the right amount of the right type of oil is in the right place is not really addressing the root of the problem.

Agreed about the oil etc...but he did say it's recently been CLAd by Oleg so I think there's no harm in tweaking the tensions. As long as he doesn't (say) need to add 5 turns to get it right...

Interestingly the Fed 2 I got from Oleg did the same thing but only on a few frames on one roll of film. After reading all this I can only assume that the second curtain had a hangup that cleared itself. The last couple of rolls have been fine! 😕

I'm glad you love your Fed enough not to want to hurl it in the bin. 🙂

I tend to run transparency through a camera as a first roll, since it's more intolerant of exposure and will show up errors better. My FED 2 had ONE frame with an overexposed band down one side on this first roll. I think it may have suffered a "hangup", as you describe, too. All other frames on that roll and since have been fine - bar the one I forgot to remove the cap for! One downside to an SLR "upbringing"
