Fed 2 non-rewind ?

Hi
Have just put a test film through an altai restored new-to-me Fed 2 b , but the rewind collar is totally loose - just goes round and round won't catch onto rewind .

My Oleg Fed 2 c is fine .

Any ideas ?

The collar round the shutter button is (on those I've seen) threaded onto its shaft. A normal right hand thread. Try screwing it down.

Thanks fidget - tried that seems totally loose - just no connection whatsoever .
Another return to sender maybe ? altai is a really fair seller , but may be getting out of the '' restore camera '' game - i think that it's just too chancy - a Kristall had an erratic shutter , but i bet it was OK when he tried it !

That's correct it does simply screw on and off - but there is also a tiny grub-screw in the periphery, to lock it. If the grub-screw were to tighten a fraction, after the main thread was unscrewed, it might block the thread catching again. However, in that case the rewind collar would also fall off. The problem could also be that one of the two screws in the srocket has come out....just my initial thoughts.
