Fed 3-50th Anniversary of October Revolution

i understand that no Fed3 has strap lugs. does this inlcude the commemorative 50th anniversary edition? i saw one with strap lugs...or is this a modified version already?

The Fed3a, produced in the early 60's, had lugs. None of the later versions (with the flat top and lever film advance) had lugs -- at least as far as I know. There may be exceptions, but they would be pretty rare. Most likely somebody modified the camera you saw.

I've seen one with strap lugs in Tashkent on the flea market, too, so either there were some FED 3s with strap lugs by the factory already or the aftermarket modification was common. In FSU cameras it's difficult and sometimes rather pointless to try to distinguish between the two. You might look if they're riveted in, screwed in or glued in. The latter two might point to an aftermarket modification or repair.
