It's easy. Under the round RF window, once the chrome bezel is unscrewed, is a round piece of glass in a push fit mount. Rotate this to align vertically. It may be locked with a little paint, just scratch it off. The horizontal adjustment is via a small screw which hides in the hole left when the screw near the centre of the top casing on the front is removed. You will need a fine screwdriver for this. The vertical adjustment can also change the horizontal, so it's vert first, horz second.
good luck....
Just to add that if you find the vertical alignment prism won't turn even after chipping any paint off, put a small piece of tissue on it and soak it with alcohol. Alternatively try dripping one drop on the around the outside of the glass but this risks getting it where you didn't intend. The alcohol will soften the shellac that they used as glue.
thank you,.. but 'm still not quite there; the thing seems accurate at infinity (well, - almost), but far off at closer distances. so,.. do i adjust infinity focus first, and close distance second (and how),... or since i'm someone with many thumbs, maybe one of you knows of a good repair shop/person...

Thorirv - obtaining correct focus is not difficult, but can be a little time consuming at first. Unfortunately some sites fail to explain how to achieve close focus - basically by adjusting the cam at the end of the rangefinder arm once one has corrected infinity focus.
By far the best guide (IMHO) to adjusting focus on a FED (all models are the same in this respect) can be found on RFF member Zorkikat's invaluable Fed Zorki Survival site - for some reason I can't get through to give a link, but look up Zorkikat on the members list, follow the link in Jay's signiture and the answer's all there!
