Hey guys....Fed up too.... still stuck on this Fed 4.
No problems removing film advance lever, shutter speed dial etc....
Seems to be the unusual placement of the rewind dial on the side-
protruding thru a cut in the top plate thats refusing it to budge.
Does this make sense? Any suggestions/advice....please. ....

I disassembled a fed 5, but not fed 4, so I am afraid I cant help you much. May be you can post some pictures of your progress?

spasiba lubitel..... I've pulled a few FSU's apart before
and never had a problem.... untill I have to put them
back together again ;-)
It will be the most obvious thing (thats why I'm cringingly
posting here).... being a newbie to rangefinderdom and all dat...
Fed 4 is weird in that the rewind wheel cuts thru a gap in the side
of the top plate.... I think therin lies the problem.....
As far as posting pictures..... hell..... i don't own a digital camera....!!!
......digital is for amateurs ;-))......
Will borrow one off a mate thou as gotta take some pixs of more
camera's to off-load- so I can purchase some more commie cameras
of course

Hi Kapa. Like lubite, I've only removed the top plate from a FED 5 once. I hope you can get the pictures up soon. Maybe we can figure it out.
No worries about it "possibly being the most obvious thing". It may be obvious to some but not to all.

Try the post in similar threads below, for 5c, it might help.
Try the two pin holes in centre of knob, this may allow access to the next stage. You would need a circlip spanner from local auto garage, that fits properly and beware there may be left hand threads...

Thanks Xmas..... the F4 though is a totally different
setup (the rewinder, anyway) than any of the Feds (I think)....
I'll have another tinker.... or maybe not..... don't want to screw
up a good thing.
Very little hope I'd be able to repair light meter.... and the
film advance is sooooo smooth on this Fed4 that it would be a
shame to ruin it ...... Cheers! :bang:
