Does anyone have a way of telling the age of a Fed 5 by its serial? I've seen tables for Fed 1's and Fed 2's, but no others.

If it helps at all, my 1980 Olympics Fed5b is 133565, and my Fed 5C is 333704

Strangely, the I 61 on the older body is 9026132 and the newer body has 8734248.

This forum has some incredibly talented and knowledgeable users , technicians and repairers, many of them all three. However, your question is more of a type for collectors - you might want to try this site http://www.ussrphoto.com/Forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=8 . Sometimes you have to knock several times to awaken their interest in your particular query.

This is usually a good site for FSU historical information http://www.sovietcams.com/index.php?815567268 but in regards to the the FED 5 and its variations, the numbers seem to be all over the place.

Good luck,
Paul

thanks! i remember once on this forum we all sent in our fed2 serial numbers and pictures/ descriptions of the camera and srdjan worked really hard to compile them all and come up with a table to help determine year.

i was just wondering if anyone had done that for the fed 5. but perhaps not- it doesn't seem to have as many variations as the 2 or as much of a following

thanks for the advice
