Welcome aboard.

As you say, it doesn't really matter; FED 2's are excellent cameras to start your RF exploration and pretty reliable. I see them as a development of the early (pre-war) Leicas and it's interesting to see the elements in the design from other makers like Contax etc. If you have any problems with them then many technicians can sort them out and the one most recommend is Oleg at OK Vintage Cameras.

My 2d worth is to say that I feel a lot of ex USSR cameras are messed up by people who think they can repair them but who haven't the experience or tools.

BTW, you can easily download the instruction manual for it in PDF format and that will tell you all you need to know. Plus some of the little drawings in it are very endearing...

BTW 2, a lens hood is a good idea, just like it would be on a Leica 7 or Sinar F.

For your first roll it's a good idea to make a note of the exposure for each shot and then you can compare performance with prints. It also helps you check it at each shutter speed and aperture setting.
