fed vs. industar collapsible 50's

Hi all,
any real difference between these? fedka has both, and they are about the same price. since they are both based on the elmar design I'm curious.

I am having much trouble with how the search function works on here so sorry if this has been covered a lot.

The 50mm FED has a small Elmar-style aperture tab, while the I-22 and I-50 have a raised ring. I don't have a 22 or 50, but it looks easier to change the aperture with them. That's probably the biggest difference. The optics are very close, but the formula was modified somewhat over the years. I love the images from my 50mm FED.

I can just barely see the tab on the fed. so you move that little thing to set aperture? But the whole ring on the front of the front of the industars moves for the aperture?

What's the difference between the I-22 and I-50, then?

Both lenses are of tessar Design. But the I-22 and the 50 are a little taller then the Fed.
The Fed seems to be optically built like the Elmar, but the aperture is placed in front.

I like the Fed collapsible the most. Although I have never tested both lenses on the same object, I find that they differ from eachother in contrast and sharpness. Just a matter of taste 🙂

For the first two questions, the answer is yes. For the last question ... some changes were made to the optical formula of the lens, but I don't think they were extensive.

My best ex-USSR lense is a rarer Fed '' clip '' collapsible, from an early Fed 2 pre 1956 , which has a lovely '' sparkle '' ... but I have two others which are fine , but not as outstanding - my 3x Rigid I 22s are more like the lesser Feds . I also have an '' Elmar '' copy from a Zorki which turned in some excellent slides .. but I have several , so I have forgotten which it is !!!
These happen to work Ok with my M 8 , most either are out of register , or hit the adapter .
The problem is that it's all down to condition - the best Fed is exceptionally clear and clean -
But I suspect that this later lense has a different coating from my I 22s and I 50 s .

I used to own a Fed and it delivered images just as good as any coated 5cm F3.5 Elmar I've seen. They are fantastic value as I'm sure the Industar is too. I need another one.

I just got my Fed 50/3.5 Collapsible from Fedka today. An absolute gem on my M2, about like a body cap when collapsed. I -know- I'm going to like this lens, I have purchased it in preference to the 3.5 Elmar.
