Earlier this Summer I inexplicably sold off my FSU stuff,(I must have been bored or something),but found that after having at least one FED in the cupboard since 1984,it didn't feel quite right.

I've just redressed the balance by picking up a nice Fed 3 from Cupog on Ebay, and if anyone out there, preferably in the UK or EU because of postage costs, has a spare Fed 2 lurking on the shelf,I'd be interested in buying one and making it into a double act.

Cheers,
Brian.

Too bad you're not in the States. I have an Fed 2 just sitting.

Maybe I should load her up and get out and shoot a roll. Thanks for reminding me. That Industar 61 L/D was pretty sweet.

Thanks a lot Zuiko' and Jesse, but the Fed 3 has an I61,and I've picked up a J8 and a J12 in the UK on Ebay,so the lens front should be alright.

Cheers,:)
Brian.

Go buy a Nikon S2. That's what I did after FED-itus, though my symptoms were somewhat different.

Hi Bill,
My problem is that I enjoy these quirky cameras more than the top notch ones.It probably comes from being a kid post war in the UK,'make do and mend' and all that.:)

Oh and I'm definitely a cheapskate;),although even my FSU 'habit' hasn't been cheap and selling on doesn't cover the outlay.

Cheers,
Brian.

The advice to buy a Nikon rather than an FSU is getting a bit repetitive. Some of us would rather have an FSU, thanks. I'm sure the Nikon is a fine, well-made camera but it's just not as much fun for us devotees.

Exactly. People would typically use a FED-2 because (a) they like FSU gear, (b) they like the FED-2 in particular, or (c) they don't have money. A Nikon rangefinder addresses neither of these.

Buying from cupog is a shrewd move - you now have a properly serviced Fed .
Now buy the Kiev 4a he is selling ! LOL

So, you climbed out of that hole, now you want to jump back in?

We should all do our bit to help!

I'll see what I have to thin out.

With all due respect to FSU devotees, my trip through FSU Gear was wrought with pain, frustration and costs that actually went well beyond the cost of a Nikon RF. My Fed 2 and Keivs had multiple trips to repair folks like Oleg and never worked well. I tried to join your group, but couldn’t. If I am spending my time and money to take pictures, I would results.

The Fed 2 is a beautiful machine unlike anything of it’s era. I loved having it pimped with a FED 5 take-up spool. It was wonderful to handle, far better than my IIIa. Not everyone has a wonderful experience with Leicas, Nikons or Feds. If all you listen to are successes you might have folks expectations miss-set.

Hello again Dave,

You hit the nail right on the head:)

I suppose that deep down I'm just an old romantic;)

Let me know if anything turns up.

Cheers,
Brian.
