Anyone used this CLA service? I'm thinking of using it for my Zorki 4. I'm wondering:

How quickly did you get your camera back?
How was the quality of service? Did your camera come back feeling precise?
Did they make the shutter speeds accurate?
How is the service in general, and would you recommend it?
Is it worth the $95[CLA+New shutter curtain]?

Thanks for the information!

MarkoKovacevic,

Yuri's a great guy to deal with. Whenever I've dealt with him he has always been friendly and helpful. Send him an email and ask about the CLA details, he usually responds very fast.

Hi,I used Fedka for a cla on my Zorki 3m.Quick turn-around and a job well done.If you're here in the states, another consideration would be Eddy Smolov.Another first rate repairer, with the same results.Google will find him in Brooklyn................Robin

I've had exellent service from Fedka, - re purchaces, but I would not spend that kind of money having a Fed or Zorki serviced, when another camera can be had for less money!
Dave.

I would advise having a Zorki CLA , if you wish to use it - you would have to take a chance , again , on another camera

OK Photocamera [ Oleg ] did a pair of Leica copies for me which were working Ok , but Oleg transformed them .

They were not cheap to buy , and a bit rough , but I loved the Leica look , it was
either accept just accept them as they are , or go for broke . I am delighted with them now .

He was also able to confirm that they started life as Fed 1 d !

If you lke that specific camera , have it sorted .

On a Tuesday I sent Yuri a Fed-2, and by that Friday evening it had been CLA'd. I had it the following Tuesday. It operated smoothly and precisely. I exposed a test roll of film at every speed, adjusting the aperture accordingly. The printed proof sheet showed the negatives very tightly exposed, so to me this meant that the speeds were quite precise.

I have had many dealings with Yuri, and have found him quick to respond and extremely helpful—a real gentleman.

I personally enjoy a well-serviced camera in fine working order—if it is a camera I like, I consider it money well spent.

The service fedka provides is great. Even with extra cost of shipping from the uk and the time taken I'm impressed with the turn round speed . For me the extra cost of professional CLA is well worth it as I am looking for a usableable rangefinder not a collectors item. I'm sure you won't regret using Yuri

I've used fedka's service a couple of times. Turn around is quick, and Yuri will stand behind the work. I sent a Fed-3 in with holes in the shutter and light leaks. It came back working very smoothly, but with a different leak. I sent it back, and they fixed it the second time. The second trip cost me shipping, but nothing else. I will use them again. That Fed is a joy to use now.

When I attempted to purchase a FED from Yuri which turned out not to be adjusted correctly and returned for repair he told me that his repair people could not guarantee both near and far focus being correct on a FED camera so I felt the internet praise he garners was maybe a little exaggerated.

If your Zorki is a really nice example and you plan on using it, the cost would be well worth it IMO. I just got my Retina IIa serviced and while it was working ok prior to service, it was night and day after the CLA... that said, I am contemplating doing the CLA on my Zorki 4 and FED-2 myself...

I've sent two cameras to Eddy ( 123camerareapir@gmail.com ) in the past two months, and both came back in great shape. Fast turn around, reasonable price, and excellent work. The guy has my vote.
