FERRANIA FILM is looking for backers to restart FILM production - Only 28 days left !

It's still climbing at $10K per day - which I find staggering at this stage. I doubt they'll make it to 500,000 but 320 isn't impossible, or even 350 - something I would have found absolutely inconceivable before the project launched (given the usual Internet film negativity).

Disappointed that so few of the more prominent bloggers have mentioned the project: I've mailed some of them, including Mike Johnston at The Online Photographer - but had no response whatsoever.
Maybe they might feature the project if a few more mails are sent their way?

Based on other's comments about late surges, and taking into account the fact that initially this required a degree of faith that they would make it but now it's pretty much buying film online (albeit not cheaply) while "guaranteeing" more film to come - what's not to like?

If FILM Ferrania come up with some interesting bonuses - say development or a discount on future film, I could see this getting through the whole film run.

Bythom has:-

Help Save a Film Factory. FILM Ferrania has a unique Kickstarter project: fund them so that they can preserve Trixie, Walter, and Big Boy. Article on filmbodies.com.

The KS project isn't about buying film in advance, but to help a factory.

They have come up with an offer to process all Super8 film offered in this project. It is one of the updates.
A discount on future film is a nice idea!

Yep, I know, but for anyone opting in now, they KNOW the project is funded, therefore guaranteed reward.

I know, but not for 35mm film. I'd use the 8mm if I could get my camera to work! E6 35mm is unfortunately not that common.

Thanks :)

Agree that for anyone joining the project now, they're guaranteed to get whichever reward they choose.
When I jumped-in at the beginning I (secretly) wondered if they'd make it to 50k. I've been indoctrinated by the relentless negativity about film pretty much everywhere online, so my expectations were aligned accordingly. Nice to have my assumptions overturned.

4 rolls of 135 + 4 rolls of 120 for me!

Also in on CineStill and hope to shoot T800 120. (Not looking too good right now)

Have already shot T800 135mm and enjoyed it.

Excellent news!!

Excellent news!!

Well, this is awesome!!
Go Ferrania!!
I've supported them with my money.

For anyone who has not supported them yet:
Please join in and support their Kickstarter. The more money they have, the easier and faster they can do their work. And they have a lot of work to do.

So excellent to see they start with a colour reversal film.
That is absolutely what the market needs.
Reversal film is wonderful.
It has so much unique characteristics and strenghts. There is no alternative for that. Reversal film cannot be replaced!

With both Fujifilm and Ferrania colour reversal film will have a sustainable future.
Now let's go out and shoot it! The more the better.
Demand is the strongest support.

Cheers, Jan

Yup! Looks like the project is soon over 5000 supporters, and I'm hoping it can go over $300,000 before the end.

With a bit more of a push, we could make it over 320 - but these last couple of weeks we all need to try and spread the word a bit more!

Help to stop our cameras becoming paperweights! :)

Might be the most expensive film I bought but at the same time it might be the only way I'll ever be able to afford film later on.

Can't wait to shoot it.

What wonderful news :)!
A new, right-sized colour film factory!
And new transparency film, yeah, that makes me happy!!!

I have not pledged yet, but I definitely will give them my supporting money this weekend.
I think I'll take one of the bigger film packs, 35mm and 120.

I hope much more will join, too, making this encouraging project an even bigger success.

Yes, let's all join together for the film revival!!!

It really needs a push now to break through $300,000! I can't afford any more, but maybe there are some film users out there who want to keep their cameras working beyond the next couple years and who still haven't contributed?
Think of it as the best way to protect your sunk investment in film equipment ;)

When going to the kickstarter page the only apparent method of signing in is via "facebook" with no alternatives . Am I missing something? Peter

I've used amazon with no problems.

Come on guys, let's surpass the 300,000$ mark!!
All who have not supported it yet, should join in!
Go for the final spurt!

The more money they get, the faster they can build up their new operations.

Cheers, Jan

For all of you who have not supported this extremely important project yet:
Please support it!!
It definitely deserves all our support. The more they get, the sooner they can start all their hard work.
Buying the machines and saving them is only one part.
Relocating them, modernising them and making them running again is the more difficult and important part.
And they need capital for that, too.
Therefore please go on supporting them!!

Come on, guys, final spurt!!

Let's get over 320,000 bucks!!!!

Those who have already pledged, please increase your pledge.
And those not joined in yet, please join us and support this wonderful project!

Thanks and Cheers, Jan

5582 backers.
322,420$ pledged.

That is a great success.
Photographers have proven their commitment:
Their commitment to colour reversal film.
And their commitment to a new small manufacturer who wants to really care for his customers.

The future is ours.

Cheers, Jan

its sad to read this whole thread...

Film Ferrania just updated their kickstarter campaign finally recognizing their failure officially. They will provide giftcards to all backers "equal to their pledge".
Thank you, next.
