Happened by a real strange sight outside a hotel the other night. Only had a CV 21/4 unfortunately. My gauges froze up during shooting. I swapped batteries with the power still on, and now all gauges are frozen in the position when the battery was ejected. I've tried all the tricks mentioned in the forum so far... with no luck. Any ideas?

Oh yeah... so uh... some pics:

Reset

Reset

Hi, you were enjoying yourself, nice pics.
Try rich cutler´s site, once my gauges froze and after resetting them many times they came up ok.
also battery level one set lower than empty again resetting many times proved the answer.

Luck!

Um....when you say "my gauges froze up," I presume you mean on the camera? Looks like some of those sights might have led to a little gauge freezing of other kinds...

When you say reset? You mean calibrate? When I go into the calibration function I can't get the needles to move. At all. They are frozen. I opened up the body and checked the connection of the ribbon cable. Twice. I've tried the two methods mentioned on the site so far with absolutely no luck. I'm leaving the battery out for a few days to try that method... but I'm stumped.

Ha, ha... yes Paul, the gauges on the camera.

I have to put my camera away for a bit, to try the discharge trick in hopes of getting these needles to move again. So I talked to Jim at the Indiana Epson office, and have placed a steel allen key between the spring and the metal door flap contact to speed up the discharge of the capacitors inside the camera. Going to step away from the camera for a few days and hope this works.

Went out again to the scene of the previous crimes before shelving the r-d1 for a few days... so at least I got one last taste. I'll share those pics, in hopes of any other suggestions on this gauge issue:

Looks like some interesting people to hang out and shoot with.
You won't find such gathering in China I am afraid :-(

Good luck with your R-D1 - sounds strange.
