Going to Hong Kong & Taipei next month, about a week in each, & haven't been to either city in a very long time. I'll be bringing my own film, but was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of the availability of "pro" emulsions (e.g., Tri-X, Portra 400, Provia, etc.) in case of emergency.
Also, I might choose to have some film developed in Taipei before returning to the U.S. I found this thread http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69071, but not sure whether the information is still current.
Thanks in advance, Chris

I had good luck on Stanley St in Central, HK Island for film. I believe the stores were clustered around 45 through 70 Stanley St block/area.
A number of emulsions you can't buy in the US were available, as well as development services and accessories.

A good place I know is DOT-WELL (basement of a Chinese building).
It's well known among local film Camera people. Cheap film, processing and good service.

While there are plenty of camera shops throughout town, the camera district is on BoAi street (博愛街), south west of main station and just east of Xinmunding. Most stores sell new goods but there are quite a few that sell old used lenses and camera bodies.
Want a Canon AE-1 Program with a Canon 50mm lens? In great condition you can pick one up for 7000-8000 NTD.
for Taipei, this was from a member from another board who advised me to check out a well known area in Taipei.
For film, i also recommend dot-well @ TST.
Try out http://www.sunrisephotohk.com/ I bought my leica there and its the Mecca for film and vintage lovers everywhere in HK.
Also a lesser known place is at Mongkok, at the top floor of Sim City, there is a film store that is very friendly and I love staying at this dude's store for a chat. his english is not bad.
If you want, you can also check out Filme in Causeway bay, they have more exotic stuff (like high end P&S, leicas, rangefinders, etc. The owner Cecilia (sp?) holds the world record for having in her possession the most rolls of unprocessed 35mm film in the world.

I was looking to buy film in Taipei and we found no store selling film until we came into a street that was only camera stores. I believe it's somewhere close to the main station in direction to Ximen

I developed my E6 in Taipei at Five Color Bird (Roosevelt Rd.?). Mom&pops type of place, they did a good job.

Thanks to all who responded!
If I don't get my M (Typ 240) back in time from its strap lug check, I may be doing more film shooting than anticipated.
Looking forward to the trip.
