I backed their Kickstarter (seemingly) eons ago and they notified me that they are releasing a BW 35mm film shortly. They claim it is similar to the original Ferrania BW film (?).

Thought some others might be interested.

Yeah I backed them too. There was an email sentout with the option to switch your kickstarter rewards to P30. I'd rather have black and white anyway so I switched.

nice film, I wonder if it comes factory parallel scratched for that old time look?

Being an supporter of their original E-6 Kickstarter, Ferrania sent me an email detailing the new B&W film. I just signed up to receive a few rolls.

I also got the email and decided to remain with the E6. I'm not in a hurry, I'll wait.

Didn't saw anything, but there are already more than enough b&w films to choose from. I'll keep waiting for the slides. Hope they arrive before Fuji decides to stop the little they have.

When it goes up in their store I'll probably grab a roll or two to try out. Yeah, there's a lot of black and white films out there already but I would love to see more manufacturers out there who are dedicated to film succeed and create new products.

On their website they mention Alpha, Beta and final production.

Yeah, but the color is the Beta, right? At least, that's how I understood it from the video.
No, this is an Alpha run of P30. Then there will be a Beta run of P30. Finally the finalized production run of P30.

It does indeed. I hope it's not priced *too* egregiously. I would like to grab a few rolls but don't want to spend $12-$15 for a single roll. If it's around $10 I might grab 2-3 rolls.

If you were a supporter of the original E-6 film Kickstarter, you can get up to five rolls for about $5.00/roll.

Still would rather have my E6 film.

Call me too. I wonder if P30 will be in 120.

This P30 is only a side product / intermediate step in the progressing of making the reversal film, which is scheduled for delivery this summer.
FF is getting a bit cash in by offering some P30. They just need some productions of BW film for testing their coater.
And if you can sell some of the test material.....why not.

Of the scratchy/variable Alpha though - presumably the price will not stay that way. The problem I see with that price going up is that I can get Tri-X for $4.85 w/free ship when I buy 10.
This is really going to be "competing" with Pan F/Acros 100 - but even then, those films don't crack $6.50 on average. Hopefully they'll be able to offer it in that range and still make a profit.
Cheaper still is Arista EDU 100 or 400.

I applaud Ferrania for making such an immense commitment and building new factories for new/old films! Bravo!
However, with affordable Kodak, Ilford, and other b&w films out there, I can't see that they will be doing well on the long run. Tri-X, FP4 or HP5 (no name a few) are wonderful films and time-tested, whereas Ferrania is still struggling to get the coating right (scratches!) and smooth sensitivity across the frame. Seems overly contrasty, too, appealing for a niche-within-the-niche-market! And its not that Ferrania has a cult following (unlike Kodachrome/Ektachrome), especially here in the US, which is probably the largest single market for film.
I'm still waiting for Perutz to come back from the grave, which I used a lot in my youth eons ago!

Well JCH released a rebranded current stock for $10/roll and people ate it up.

I'll buy it when it's scratch free.
Also backed the initial kickstarter, even though I don't like the old Ferrania. More film manufacturers is always a good thing
