And for those who were not tracking this, they had over 20,000 orders for this alpha release of B+W film in the first few minutes they opened the web store, and it crashed the server this morning.
Film might be dead, but it's still moving around.

Yeah, how do you like that? 20,000 orders! Good news, but I am not among the elect. I tried ordering a two or three weeks ago and could not get the shop page to open. Now I am last in line.

Ok. tried again. Store page still does not open. Perhaps the site is allergic to this MacBook? Or do they shut it down from time to time because they know it will take two years to fill the orders? LOL

https://shop.filmferrania.it is working for me just fine.
And if you are KickStart backer you will get the film before other non-backers.

I'd like to try some also, just a couple of rolls. However I have a feeling it's not going to be two months or so until they have enough to fill pre-orders. More like 6~9 months or more. Hope I'm wrong but.....
Also would need full information on all cost, shipping etc. The only cost that is real the bottom line and I want to know that before I tap any keys.

For the Kickstarter supporters (me), a roll of P-30 cost $5.00 and will be released on April 4th. Go to their website for more info.

I just ordered my 5 rolls of P30. Since I am just getting into film, I encourage everyone to support a group of people that are trying to re start a company to produce film.

I emailed them about this and here is their response:
"According to our developers, many people who accessed the site on day one may have a cache on their local machines that is being "stubborn".
The most foolproof method to fix the issue is this:
a) Close any shop windows or tabs you might have open in your browser and flush you cache, then quit your browser.
b) Delete your browser cache - not from your browser but by actually finding and deleting the DNS cache on your machine (you can google how to do this for your specific computer and browser)
c) Restart your machine
d) Reopen your browser and open the shop.
We know this is a lot of steps and extra work, but unfortunately it is the only reliable method our developers have told us right now.
If you do this and continue to have problems, please let us know."
However I just went to the site on my phone and ordered my 5 rolls there so I didn't actually try their suggestions.

I only heard of this enterprise last summer and I'm delighted to hear that they've produced what sounds a unique B&W film. The price and their shipping charges are however pretty high but I've ordered 5 rolls none the less to support the initiative. This alpha version is meant to be cheaper than the final version. Looks like they'll be looking for over 10 euros for the final version which will be too pricey for regular use by me.

I could be wrong, but have been following this, and am unaware that Ferrania has said anything to indicate that the final version would be more expensive than this more limited production version. Could have missed that announcement, I suppose, but economies of scale once they get ramped up to full production (assuming that happens) would generally lead to lower cost, not higher cost. Generally.
People didn't even know what this one was going to cost until a couple of days ago.

If you watch the several Youtube videos, the general manager said that they are working in the color film. However, on the way to color, the discovered that they could produce the wonderful b&w, which is what they are offering. They decided to offer it to have something out of there, since they could not meet the initial deadline for color.

I'm sorry I'm not sure where I picked this info up, I might have it wrong.

Photo Warehouse sent me an email today entitled "Keeping Film Photography Alive",
in which this film was mentioned by name.
They aren't offering it for sale, but maybe they will carry it if/when it goes into production.

Just as a reference, they have instructions on the site. And the sample images have developer and times as well.

Happy to oblige:
P30alpha on P30alpha
80 iso, HC110 1:60 12 mins reduced agitation, F100 55mm f3.5 micro Nikkor, V850 scan, matrix metered no adjustments to exposure, straight scans just sharpen for web, slight crop on the tack frame to tidy.
It dries flat BTW!!

Tack sharp (sorry) as above other than on 50mm f1.8 Nikkor Ai

My standard "tomb" test subject for films developers etc. details as above.

I know a lot of people shoot portraits, personally I don't so here is one on the P30, just don't mention the dubious toupé

Last one:

Next roll is for Pyrocat HD although I can't see it getting sharper, the 50mm f1.8 Ai is a very good example of its kind.
Observations: a look that is contrasty, fine grained and sharp. I have run brackets ion the next roll but 80iso looks near enough.
make up your own mind, more on my Flickr.
