Photogenic Bacteria

E-coli bacteria rendered photosensitive by genetic anipulation will soon be used to make film that will be ten times more sensitive than currently available film.

The quality that present day digital cameras are able to produce seems to signal the end of the old photo-film camera. But recent developments in 'light sensitive' bacteria may still steal the show.

Now all we need are the fast food giants to take over Ilford and Kodak and apply all that E-coli based expertise.

I was just going to say something about how "who knew that dirty beef would one day revolutionize photography?" but you beat me to it. Here we go Jack in the Box here we go!

That's a real trip. I wonder how modern lenses will hold up to such things? And I wonder how many warnings there would have to be on a film canister to not lick the emulsion?

I wonder what techniques were used to inhibit the e-coli growth? Think about it...you leave your 100 ASA "bacto-film" in the fridge for a month and - viola! - you've got 1600 ASA and a shelf full of spoiled chicken!
 
Just don't lick the film. It is unhealthy and may cause you to glow in the dark. That's what we really need; a bacteria based film to enjoy, after enjoying radioactive material in some lenses.

I can see the label warnings now. "Keep away from antibotics and disinfectants" and "Extended close proximity to film may cause diarrhea and other digestive upset"

don't forget that lotsa bacteria are already USED in food stuff and they are more than welcome.
Think yoghurt, cheese (ok, that's more like fungus), and don't forget the many bacteria that you need to have in your stomach to digest stuff.

On second thought, better not use the bacteria film with radioactive lenses AT ALL! The film might grow to gigantic size and try to "develop" the photographer!
