I cut my film into strips an scan with a Nikon V ED. The scanner is particular about the film it accepts and does not allow cutting through the film perforations, making a ragged edge.

My Bessa T places film perforations exactly between the frames, necessitating that I cut slightly into a frame wherever I cut the strip.

My Leica (and every other camera I've had) lets me cut cleanly between frames. This little Bess T quirk is kind of annoying. Is this typical of other Ts? Or is this typical of all Bessas? Any fixes or adjustments?

hm...I had a similar problem with a old contessamat camera, turns out the film sprockets thing was off a little and I just loosened a screw that kept it at a certain place and moved it a little then tightened it down and problem solved but I dont know what the inside of a bessa looks like and would hesitate to do it.

Don't mean to get you paranoid Dick, but I have a Nikon V ED and I'm scanning in some negatives now and it's fine with leading sprocket holes not being 'whole'.

Just had a quick look through other negatives that have been through the scanner and a fair few also have semi leading holes.

Well, Avotius and kully, maybe I've been exposed as a hopeless conformist. I read a caution against splitting the sprocket holes (somewhere, really) and made it a point never to do so.

I am going to whack a length of film right through the sprocket holes next oportunity and see if my V ED likes it. If not, then I will do a little judicious trimming and try again.

If that doesn't work . . . you guys will hear about it!

Have the same problem with my R2. I spoke to my technician, and he said that the Bessas had a fixed spool which could not be adjusted. However, he did mention that he'd try to tweak it a little the next time I brought the camera in.

Everything's Just Fine

As promised, I disregarded the cautions against cutting through the perforations and just clipped the negs between frames without regard.

The Nikon V ED took each film strip with nary a protest. So, there was a problem that wasn't. Good news.

In addition, I can tell which film strips are from my badly behaved T and which are from my well behaved M6.
