I'm shooting more film these days, but I don't have time to scan the negatives myself. I just picked up some scans from a local lab that in most cases has done a good job of it. However, the last 4 rolls I picked up yesterday were horrible scans. Prints look awesome, scans look trashed. I plan to go back and talk with them about it. I may scan one myself and do a side by side.

Any recommendations for good photo labs in the SF Bay area that do a quality job of processing, printing and scanning? Somewhere near Berkeley would be perfect. Mail order could be an option too.

I shoot both 35mm and 120.

TIA

It's not exactly in your neighborhood, but if you ever come across the bridge, I highly recommend photoworks. Great scans and nice, knowledgeable staff.

Lightwaves has a branch in Berkeley. I only have experience with their SF branch, but they do excellent work, including E-6 (I am a refugee from Chromeworks and NewLab). You can develop and scan film for $12, or $20 at high resolution.

Photolab in Berkeley. Highly recommended.

Dev+ low res scan is about 13$ for b/w, 2$ less for c-41. (high-res 22$, $20 c-41)

www.photolaboratory.com. has full price lists/services on their site.

You can also drop the film off @ Looking Glass if thats closer, Photolab picks up and drops off from us daily(m-f). (pricing is the same)

fwiw: XTOL is their standard b/w developer, but for an extra charge they'll custom develop for you, any developer/time dilution you want.
