Film resurgence

Or just a marketing ...

I will only see resurgence with crowns wearing film cameras on the street.
Which is not present.

We had party of our department yesterday.
Young colleague was wearing t-short with something about Kodak.
He is completely not into film.

I have to agree with Ko.Fe. here. The angle seems to be more that the younger generation is into anything "retro" and not film specifically.
They just like that it looks... retro.

Similarly in conversations I have had with them the pattern emerged that they like my cameras (they look old and quirky) but usually have absolutely no interest in carrying or shooting these for themselves.

Edit: If Kodak (ideally not Alaris) gets even a couple of cents from each of these shirts or other licensing fees, I guess that's still good for us film grognards.

Somebody is buying all the crappy instant cameras.

There definitely is a resurgence of sorts that is happening, especially among the younger generations, but it's never going to come back like it was prior to digital; that ship has sailed. That said, I believe film use will continue to increase, becoming even stronger than it has already become. When I see my kid, who's 19 atm, what finally got him interested in photography (despite me being a photographer his whole life) was that he wanted to shoot film and specifically 35mm. He said he liked the look of it and wanted to make photos that had that look. For my part, I gave him my Pentax Program Plus w/ a 50mm, and also an older Olympus micro 4/3 digital setup I had lying around. Between the both of them, he'll use the digital for more practical reasons, like when he went with my wife overseas to visit her family and didn't want to deal with development, finding film, etc., but when he's home normally, he always grabs the Pentax because he prefers the look artistically. And he's not typically an artsy type person; he just prefers the look and experience over digital, which is what he's grown up with his whole life and finds kinda stale and normal. There definitely are other kids his age with the same opinion I've found.
