Film Settings

Hello,

I just got my RD-1 two weeks ago, took me a long time to decide, also because of the discussions going on within this forum....
Finally I decided to sell my Digilux2, which I liked, but I was not really satisfied with the AF and manual focus capabilities -- and because I wanted to use my M-lenses.

So now I played around with my RD-1 and I think that mine does not show a focusing problem with my 21, 28, 35 and 50mm lenses.

And now I would like to ask you, the experienced R-D1 users, which film setting you are using and if you are using the automatic white balance setting.

I only shoot raw because with .jpgs I see a lot of hot/dead pixels. Raw mode maps them out automatically and produces a cleaner image. I believe the film settings don't apply to raw images, so I've never paid much attention to them.

I use RAW virtually 100% of the time but have mine set to B&W so I see the image that way on the LCD. I like to print mostly in B&W (but not always). For the most part, I find that the Auto white balance does a fine job, but if not, I can always adjust it in post processing because I've shot it RAW.

When I do shoot jpg, I tend to up the contrast and saturation (and then use curves and more saturation in PS).

100% RAW, giving 101 shots on ym 1 GB Sandisk card (Extreme 3, or so).
Using Auto white balance, though that doesn't make any difference with RAW.
I tend to like the "vivid" setting in the RAW convertor.
Hardly ever need to use much curves in PSP or up the saturation.
