I have a Leica IIIf BD and have trouble remembering what film speed is loaded in the camera. There is a film speed indicator built into the shutter advance knob but it was made before 400 speed film. Has anyone ever modified the display to show film speeds in more common use today? I'm thinking if I can pull off the knob and figure out a good way to make a new "film speed wheel display" then I'll be in luck. What do you think?

Love the forum. Thanks in advance.

right after i load the camera i put a little piece of masking tape on the bottom plate with the film speed written on it...nothing fancy but it works.

I like that idea. A nice quick fix. But I'm still thinking about drawing or printing something on the computer that will have 100/160/400 speed film choices in B&W or color. Then laminate it and put it under the shutter speed dial. I wonder if anyone else has gone to that trouble?

some people ive seen just tear the film cardboard box and slot it into flash shoe. so whenever you change shutter speed, '400TX' or 'HP5+' always visible. no?
