film storage/cases

@msbarnes
Those look fantastic. I've been looking for film cases just like that! Although they don't seem to hold much, they appear to have a lower profile than that of the cases Fuji have recently discontinued.

Bellamy of Japan Camera Hunter is in the process of making cases, I believe he is still in the research and development phase as suggested on the thread he created on RFF a while ago.

I have these storage boxes and use them for 120 film and they're nice. I do worry about the hinges on these things, like many other containers also have, and wonder how long they'll last before breaking.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with Porters, good or bad ?

Water tight Flip top containers

Water tight Flip top containers

In the US most "dollar stores" have 4 sided flip lock containers in various sizes that are watertight and clear. You can get a variety of sizes that will hold anywhere from 6 to 40 rolls of film depending on the size. They run for $1 for the smaller sizes to $5 for a size that holds 15 rolls. I use them to freeze large portions of film.

For 120 film I use screw-cap cases with rubber-seal, very convenient to use and most probably water-tight and dust-proof. They are also available for 135. Much better than the cases from Fuji. I don`t know if they are readily available outside of Japan but Japan Exposures most probably might source them.

My experience with Porters was good. Prompt shipping and no hassle return service.

I bought these plastic film-stor cases and I agree with the previous posters - you need rubber bands because they do pop open on their own. For the price and a few rubber bands, they are more than adequate.

Well this is ridiculous. Tried ordering some of the Film Stor cases from Porters and I get as far trying to get a shipping quote. Choose Canada etc etc. but nada. Finally call Porters and even though Canada is an option, they won't ship to Canada. The csr said something about past problems, no exceptions.

Gee, I can spend close to a thousand bucks buying from BH or Freestyle with no issues but I can't buy some cheap plastic cases from them for about $30.

Sorry for the rant, they have no idea how much business they could gain if they'd sell to Canuckleheads. Oh well, their loss. Just need to find another place that sells them.
