Film streaks - cause?

That's the spirit, Conor! Now if this rain would just let up, maybe we could have a summer like everyone else...

It still puzzles me why the streaks were so regular and straight but the fact that they rinsed off so easily makes me think it can't have been the processing fluids but the final rinse/photoflo instead. Strange, but my negs are ok so I'm a happy camper!

Yes, re wash and dry. Water spots are generally water soluble. Chemical film cleaners usually won't touch them, though.

one more question...
someone mentioned to me that the fastest way to dry film is to dip in isoprophyl alcohol with a drop of photo-flo...

as opposed to just a photo-flo and water mix..

is this true?

Sounds like something I'd like to know about too. If nobody responds I'll "test on an inconspicuous area" and report back. Dust from drying and waiting for drying are among the more irritating aspects of B+W.

I used to do that. I don't remember it doing a whole lot. I mean, the alcohol evaporates quickly (making some kind of suffocating fumes in the process), but the emulsion is still swollen with water, which is what you're really waiting for.

Might help with dust though, since the surface would get dry quickly.

I have always heard to _add_ alcohol to the water/photo-flo working solution, not use just alcohol. But I've always used just photo-flo (with distilled water) and no marks.
