Me! I shoot black and white because I tend to think film does that a bit better and because I get the fun of controlling it by development.

I also process my own black and white and send out my color...

... likes film again.
I develop all my BW at home (changing bag & kitchen sink) and used to develop also C-41 myself. Now all color goes to a local pro-lab except KR64 to Dwayne's. I scan all films myself with either a Coolscan 4000ED (135) or V700 (120).

Shooter of Film...
I develop my own B&W film and prints at home...any C-41 gets sent out...but been thinking of doing some E-6...it's been too long since I've done that...I could run some Velvia through the Yashicamat...

B&W at home in the kitchen. Almost all color is digital, although I still like to shoot a roll of portra nc here and there.

I develop a couple rolls of B&W film at home every week. If I am on the road, and do not wish totravel with exposed film, I shoot the c41 b&w stuff, and get it developed locally.
I used to think that Phoenix was backward. There are dozens of places that develop c41, and two even that develop regular b&w with a 24 hour turnaround (as well as e6) although if you give them 3 days it knocks a buck or so off the price.
Once upon a time, I was considering starting a business that did custom development of film, but now I see that anyone who is at all serious about it, develops themselves.
Good to know!
... I never shoot C41 anymore because there isnt a decent lab in Indiana that can do it. ...

Oh..for sure ALL of my BW films, 35, 120 and 5x7 I have one small "frig" just for developers. If I can go back to doing my own "chrome's" I will try again after Christmas. But the prolabs for color are getting sloppy and often come back looking like they were washed in the gutter. But always a DIY guy.

I live in Indiana's second largest city, with 250,000 people. Small compared to Phoenix, but hardly a small town. There are NO E6 labs at all here anymore, and the only places that do C41 are Walgreens and CVS drugstores. I think Sams club might, but I'm not sure, I am not a member but I know the walmart stores here quit doing it in the stores (they send it out of state). We used to have three pro labs that did E-6 and C-41 in dip and dunk machines. Two of them closed in the late 90's when film was still going strong, and the last holdout died in 2007. I beleive the one lab I know of in Indianapolis, a city of nearly a million people and the 12th largest in the country, is the only E-6 lab in the state. Sad.

Hey Chris have you been to Image Craft ???
I used them about ten years ago when I was doing a lot of work in the Phoenix area...they developed a bunch of E-6 and also did some prints from some of that film...
I would drop the film (Velvia 50) off early in the morning and pick it up later that day...35mm, 120 and 4x5

B&W at home, it is almost a ritual... I shot my last colour film 2 years ago.

The best camera is one that still works!
Due to the fact that the only decent lab within cooee of me charges $12.00 to process a roll of black and white film it's a no brainer. There's no way I could shoot the amount I do if I had to pay that much for processing!

how many of you film users are processing your film yourself?
or sending it out?
just curious.
I'm curious as to why such a confirmed digital shooter as your fine self would ask such a question Joe?

Until I moved overseas I was developing my own black and white as well as C-41 at home. Here in Taiwan I'm shooting about 80% digital. Color film I take to a Kodak shop about 20 minutes away. They do a good job, but I really miss doing my own, especially B&W. Next time I go back home i'm getting my darkroom stuff. Will my scanner fit in a carry-on? Probably not...

All B&W processing at home. Film processing was the first thing I started at home, even when printing in a community darkroom. Haven't shot color in 25+ years, save the rare digital p&s grabbed from my wife's purse.

B/W from 35mm to 4x5 at home. 35mm color mostly drug store. 120 color to Dominion Camera at Rt 7 and Broad St in Falls Church, VA. If I do any E6 they get that too. They do it right. Not cheap, but right. I'll pay for that.

B&W is processed in the bathroom at home - mostly with Diafine or Rodinal. C41 goes to a local lab near my office, but the more B&W I shoot the less interested I become in colour film.
