film users

I developed B&W at home for a bit, but then I realized I could take it to a lab and have them do a better job for $4 a roll so I stopped doing it myself. That was a few years ago. I very rarely shoot B&W now.

C-41 and E-6 go to a lab downtown. A bit expensive but they do a good job and I'm not a terribly prolific shooter. It works out. 🙂
 
120 and 35mm B&W at home - changing bag and Jobo CPE or small Paterson tank. Negs are scanned on an Epson 4990. I generally use digital for colour, but if I shoot any E6 I send it to Peak Imaging in the UK. I've just got back into film fairly recently after a 2 1/2 year break.
 
I never thought of getting traditional black and white film processed - I've always done it myself. C41 and the rare E6 films I hand over to a small shop nearby. They do C41 themselves, still, and E6 goes to a larger lab.
 
I'm lucky to have a pro lab (the last one in this mid sized city I believe 🙁 ) within walking distance. Still there is a level of personal satisfaction for me doing film from begining to the end that I tend to shoot color only digitally. I would run aproximately every fifth roll through my Hassy in color - but slowly found that B&W was a higher level of satisfaction. In 35 where I have the D700, D90 and D200 I have not bothered yet to shoot any color in my F100. The Zeiss Ikon when it arrives, of course will have to have at least of few rolls of color go through it and who knows ... perhaps color may fit into that style for me.

Oh ... the choices! I do worry about the disappearance of practically available film photography in the years to come. That is like a cloud on the horizon, that may or may not be there ... but for now ... it is a great photographic world! 🙂
 
B&W at home. E6 at A&I (mailers). C41 locally, but I rarely shoot that, these days.

All scanning at home, at the moment. I may rent time at a color lab in the city if something worth a drum scan comes up.
 
Home process all B&W except C41, color and obviously E6. Yes as Mike said, the biggest problem here now is E6 as the only lab doing it was damaged by flood during the recent typhoon. No choice but to send out to Hkg or Singapore at this time.
 
I've had all the stuff to do it myself for a year now and I still get lazy and send it out to A&I in L.A. They do a perfect job, but it sure gets expensive what w/ the shipping there and back and their developing costs. Maybe the next rolls I'll put in the Yankee tank. That tank is part of the reason why I haven't done it myself. I taped over that name but still know it's under there. Better look for a Rebel tank.
 
I used to develop all b&w film myself. Now that I live in an apt in NYC, it is getting harder to find a place to develop it. For a while I was using the lab at Int'l Cntr of Photography. The NYC photo club costs about 150 per month.
So, I am thinking of starting to send it out to www.dr5.com and have it processed as positives.
has anyone used dr5 in Denver for processing?
 
I do B&W at home. XP2 and other c41 I send out. 35mm c41 goes to Costco and medium and large format color goes to CSW in Chicago.

I enjoy processing B&W and looking at the dryed negatives on a lightbox before printing. Part of watching the magic unfold.

dr5 is a stunning process, especially with films that have dense blacks. I am doing a book project on a natural area over the next 3-4 years all in black and white. I shot some Technical Pan film in my Hasselblad then had it souped dr5 and it came out spectacular. A friend of mine had a 40x40 Ilfochrome of it made at the Lab Ciba in Burbank and it came out tremendous, so we are planning a show next year.
 
I shoot b/w 98% of times.

Develop with dark-bag & kitchen combo. Scan with $150 flatbed for online posting. Go to a shared darkroom in town for wet prints.

When I shoot color, it will go to local lab for processing, then home scan for quick flickr upload only.

I live in a small 1br apt in SF so I simply can't have a full size darkroom. My cat and GF will kill me.
