Anyone using EFKE 400? How does it compare to other 400's? I currently Dev in Rodinal or D-76. Currently using Tri-X. I use other EFKE films so I know to treat it gently.... Thanks, Bill

Does Efke market a 400-speed film? They surely don't make it in Croatia, which isn't set up for high-speed emulsions as I understand it. It could be Fomapan 400 or possibly something else that's been rebranded.

At one point (a few years ago) Ekfe KB400 was re-branded Ilford HP5+. As i recall, if all of the discourse on this is remotely believable, that it is now Agfa APX400s, a new Agfa emulsion (a surveillance film?) that was never unleashed on the world until Fotokemika bought about 18k miles of the stuff..

I've tried it in R09 (Foma's version of Rodinal), and didn't really care for it - weird grain, but then i was asking for it with that developer. Doesn't really seem to be a true 400 speed film, which could be because it loses speed in Rodinal, but i can't be sure - could be some exposure and/or development ineptitude on my part.

At the time, i was also trying out Neopan 400, which, frankly, blew KB400 out of the water for what i was looking for (and still does).. might have been a contributing factor as to why i've never revisited it. But, for as cheap as KB400 is from Freestyle at the moment, it might be worth a try - i'd bet it would look better in D-76 than ol' Hot Rod..
