I'm absolutely discouraged. I've been trying to find the E36 to E39 adapter (SNHOO) so that you can use 39mm threaded filters on Summitar lenses. I tried the 'bay, I tried extensive Google searches. Nothing.

I have a Haze filter attached to my Summitar, my lens suffers of flare and odd softness due to refraction which disappears when I take it off; I have 39mm B+W MRC filters which I use on my Summicron and 90 Elmarit, and I'd love to do the same with my Summitar.

Does anybody know of a good place where I could find one? Or a reasonable substitution? Your help will be deeply appreciated.

A Series VI retaining ring fits almost perfectly over the outside of the Summitar. It only takes a little tape on the inside of the ring to tighten it up.

Just take two retaining rings, one to go on the lens and the other to hold the filter onto the first ring. All you will need then is a set of Series VI filters.

Thanks Pshinkaw, I should consider that. I use the vented hood on my Summitar, so if I consider this option I will not be able to use the hood shade. So how can I look it up? Is there a particular brand?

Consider a 36mm to series 6 adapter. I have one for my Summitar. This used to be the way nearly everyone solved this problem. Mine is capped with a Tiffen vented hood that takes the place of the series 6 retaining ring. There's such an adapter on ebay now.

The portion of the Series VI ring that fits over the Summitar is the same part in which the Series I filter resides. It is unthreaded since the Series VI filters are also unthreaded. That is a standardized diameter so any retaining ring should work.
