See attached test shot - I'm pretty sure I see a fair bit of vignetting in the lower corners. This isn't exactly surprising on an ultrawide, but it is a pain. Shot with my B+W 39mm yellow filter which does have a rather thick mounting ring.

So, any suggestions for one that won't vignette? I'd be particularly interested to hear from other users what works... I'd like to keep the "hood" (thin ring) on if at all possible, but I do have a bunch of 49mm filters if a step ring is the best bet.

Thanks!

I use 49mm Hoya filter and a super-wide 49 hood from Heavystars on evilbay that works fine w/ a custom 39>49 Heliopan step-up ring.

The cut off from a filter would be in every corner equally and would be abrupt, not gradual.

There is vignetting on most wide lenses and also variation in sky brightness can vary.

Reshoot an even with toned subject at 4 and 5.6 with and without the filter.
Regular 39mm works on my 25mm and it is almost the same design.

Allrighty, thanks guys! I will do a real test on something even-toned.

I also eyeballed into the front element a bit more carefully, and it looks like it's about the same as the built-in hood. Hopefully no extra expenditure required then 🙂 Will probably also get the step ring anyway to use my other filters.
