I agree. Put my $40 towards Joe's camera or give it to him. 😎

Doesn't joe prefer wrist straps? How about a Gordy strap to go with the camera?

ah ..."Money"... what a concept.. Now we're considering what to do with what amounts to less than $2 per person who donated! 🙄 🙂

Though of course I admit its the its the other end that "matters" and I still support FrankS in whatever the decision is.

Jeez - I better get out and actually take some photos or I won't have a chance in the Contest 😉

bye!

Amen, things happen so fast around here, that is really good. But, I think we have to take a break to catch our collective breath and just let this be resolved.

I hope you all agree that we can trust Frank and Joe to do the right thing. Let's let them get a peaceful night's sleep and then wrap this up. Just think, in a couple short days we took a bunch of little signs of appreciation and turned it into a, well, camera kit.

I know we are all happy with what has happened.

finally

Thanks for all your opinions on what is to be done with the surplus donations.

There were a couple of "outside the box" suggestions on using the money for a lottery and for a photo contest. The lateral thinking is appreciated, but money raised for a purpose should not then be shifted to another purpose so different from the original intent.

Two strong opinions were expressed: give all the proceeds to Joe, and give the surplus to RFF. In a King Soloman-like manner, I feel the best that can be done in this situation is to split the surplus between both Joe and RFF. Many kind folks here have voiced their confidence in me to do the right thing. This is the best that I can come up with. (Hey, it worked for Soloman!)

Let's not let this little amount of money drive us crazy. Let's put this issue behind us, and please, focus on the good that was done here.

The camera is out of stock at Popflash right now and is expected at the end of next week. Tony will handle the shipping. I'll let you know when anything new happens.

Thank you to Tony at Popflash.photo for stepping up and helping us out with this. and to Ray (Ray_g) for accepting paypal payments into his account and holding onto the purse strings for us.

Thank you all for your guidance, and support in showing appreciation to our moderator, the protector of our sanctualry, back alley Joe!

Excellent job, sir, and a fine example of what is best about this place. I appreciate your efforts on this project.

Cannot read all - got to do some work today - so forgive if this has already been mentioned.

Why not "leave it on account for Joe" at Popflash and let him use it as he wants, when he wants?

After playing with the ZI for a week or two he will probably figure on something to add.

Frank:

My apologies for coming in late on this one. As a new member I would like to do my part for the forum.

I'm sure that this has already been covered but.... please give me instructions on how to make a donation and I'll gladly oblige.

Thanks again

Sherm

Hi to all. May you please explain how/why started this collecting for a camera and a lens to Mr. Joe ? I made a search, but I wasn't able to read the beginning... If all that is for a good case, as it certainly is, I could gladly add a my half case (and deluxe strap) for the Zeiss Ikon ZM camera, and shipping to him (where ?). Thank you, ciao, Luigi

Hi Luigi,

Joe is our moderator here at RFF, the only moderator. As our community has grown, he has kept up with all the changes and posts, and is largely responsible for making RFF a very friendly respectful place. At times this can be a bit of a task, after all, we have almost 4000 members from all over the globe. Joe sets the tone here and more than anyone else has made this a community we are all happy to be part of.

All of his "work", probably better stated, Joe's contribution here is uncompensated. We, the membership, decided to say thank you to him for all that he does for us by contributing to our community. We all contributed a little, and by doing so we have been able to purchase a very nice camera kit for him.

Hey, mine is but a small contribution to a good cause. The leader has spoken so it is time for me to shut up and move on.

Now to pick up some film and start shooting again.

🙂

Thanks Frank
