....picking it up tomorrow
It's a fairly rough looking IIIC with 50mm Summitar f2, case, cap and hood. Have had most of the Fed's and Zorki's, but this will be my first fully fleged Barnack Leica
Purchased for $300 NZ Dollars (approx $215 USD).... hope I've got myself a bargin... Can someone confirm the year of production (sn:510526)... 1939....?

1950 "Sharlskin" model.....with original case with Summitar lens/and early "barndoor" lens hood ~ lens cap is a post 1952 one. $215 well about average price on a working IIIC, maybe a little high for a chrome damaged one, but the lens is nearly worth that much.
Happy Shooting!

Cheers Tom, picked it up today. Wow, I was way out with the date- ta for clarifying that. Chrome is pretty bad on the vertical but none on top. Al slow speeds work and sound about right. Summitar is ok but with a bit of haze. Curtains are a bit wrinkled but appear light tight- well my first roll will prove that- Ilford Delta 400. Turns out I'm only the 2nd owner

Congrats !
The Summitar alone would go for more than that from the old camera dealers here in the States...
Hope it proves to be a user... my user LTM is a 1934 Leica III from eBay, ran about $150, and came with a little f: 3.5 -35mm Komura lens; it has similar chrome issues to your IIIc, but it works fine and has been a reliable user for the last three years ( over 100 rolls of film)...

I paid more just for the lens............great deal even if it needs a service.
The IIIc is my favorite fun rig even after all these years!

If you pay $150 for a CLA, yous till will have a great combo at below $400. It was a good deal.

Thanks heaps guys for the feedback. Hoping this is going to inspire me to get shooting again... as I've been a little slack lately... The Summitar is a beautiful piece of work. Half way thru a roll already, will post some pics (if I can figure out how too) soon of first roll...

Great shot Rick. Don't think I've got anything close to your avatar though ;-) Dev'ing first roll from the IIIC/Summitar this weekend. Fingers crossed curtains are still in tact and I've got at least a few exposures bang on. Had a stab at taking off the top plate last night but gave up... wanted to clean the RF as it's pretty hazy and not very useable. Will be posting first pics soon.....
