I've been trying to stop myself for some time now.... But this one came with the 50 f1.4, so how could i resist!?

I have several OM lenses I use on my nex 6 but this is the first body i have had. it's LOVELY!

The first time you pick up an OM you realise why they are so revered.

Congrats ... the OM-2 is a truly great SLR. 🙂

They are a pretty camera. I have not owned one however mainly because in my film days I was heavily into Pentax M42 lenses and when I decided I wanted a bayonet camera I went down the path of getting a Pentax MX which could use those lenses with adapters.

In some respects that camera was similar to the Olympus offerings of the era. Tiny size. Elegant and lovely quality.

One possible thing to be aware of in these small cameras that some others have commented on from time to time.

Principally due to their tiny size they tend to be a little fragile by comparison with their big brothers. I recall dinging my MX with a tiny tiny bump that I would not have expected to do anything. It was only a cosmetic thing.

I suppose its a price you pay for discrete size.

Hi,

And the OM10 is a good way to get your hands on one of them for the price of a cup of coffee as people don't like them but I can't think why. Usually you get the (still sensational) standard lens on them and sometimes the manual speeds adapter.

And then you can try them out without committing your wallet too deeply, because it's the lenses, size etc that need to be experienced before moving on to an OM-1 or OM-2 etc.

OM10's are usually in a far better condition due to light amateur usage than the "better" dearer and well worn ones. I've had several that came with something else I was intent on buying and am amazed at others re-actions to the humble OM10.

Regards, David

I've had a Pentax MX and it was a great camera. Even smaller than the OM2. In fact isn't the MX the smallest SLR that was ever made?

I would still have it but the mete went mad 🙁

I've had a 1 and a 40 in the past, and still can't quite believe I've got a 2SP (that's a 2S for our American cousins). I definitely prefer the single digit OMs, and aspire to a 4Ti, but I would still rather have a double digit OM than another SLR (except, maybe, a Nikon FM2, which is seriously cool). The 20 onwards eat batteries a bit, and the 10 had the mistake of no manual option without the clumsy adapter, but it's a very good camera nonetheless.

My FM2n is the one camera I will never get rid of-- it was my first, and I still love it

I owned a FM2n for a while and I experienced no pangs when I got rid of it. I didn't find anything at all wrong with it, but I just felt nothing for it.

My OM1s were a different case. I really enjoyed using them but they became a little unreliable with age.

I think it's a good thing that we all have different tastes. Wouldn't life get boring if we were all the same?

😀
