fine...fine glass!

RLM,

check out this seller's M3 --- grab it while you're at it:) Man, I'd like to hold one of those......

I will be WATCHING but not bidding on that M3: no marks in the Top plate, Vulcanite in perfect condition, and the wax "L" seal. If this one does not go for $1,000 I will be surprised. If anyone is going to use it though, it will probably need to be CLA'd from lack of use.

Ok lady and gents, let's sing !

I'm a total-devotee
of Leica-M-photography
But there's no reason I can see
to choose this one over a Canon P

:p

Lil, my bank account is empty so I'll only bid a little. My wife and little girl are coming over for good in February and already I've spend 2000 euros on plane and train tickets without having a penny for it in my bank account. :p

For now I'm satisfied with owning an M2; the M3 will have to wait until my little girl is going to get married: dowry. :)

I would not mind a Summilux either, but...

After getting back another roll from the Summarit, mounted on the L1: It is going for less than a 50mm F3.5 Elmar these days and a professional cleaning will do wonders for it. At F4 and below, it is very sharp and compares well with my Summicrons. And at under $250 with the CLA, it is some of the cheapest Leica glass going. Close-up and wide-open, it is soft. That makes it fine for portraits.

I have a 50mm summilux E43, mine is the version before the E46. These seem to go for 650-1000 USD depending on the version. The earlier ones were prone to flair and really just a copy of the 50mm Summarit like Brian has.
My Summilux is very nice with excellent bokeh, and very sharp stopped down. It's a big lens though, bigger than my 50/2 summicron I used to own.

Todd
