My M6 came in today, Wow, this thing is kinda cool. I gotta go shoot something now!Let's have a toast to fine German engineering:

Isn't that a weird feeling? You hold in your hands a very carefully crafted piece of machinery and yet you're feeling like cleaning it all the time...

Congratulations! :D

Very nice. I like the vented hood as well!!

Here's a toast to fine German engineering!

Thanks to all.
The camera is in better shape than it looks in this pic. The vented hood on the 35/2 has a little "road rash" on it's edges but works great. The lens has a few cleaning marks on the front element but I don't think it'll effect the images. The 50/2 has been rebuilt and and is clean, clean, clean. The body is immaculate, though the black chrome has a different sheen to it vs. black paint, kind of soft almost bronzeish instead of glossy black. I forgot how heavy these cameras are, so I picked up an old M3 case with a ratty top section and did some reconstructing to creates a very useable bottom half (gotta leave the "Luigi Cases for xmas ;) ).
Once you pick one of these babies up it's hard to put it back down, in fact I've typed this with the camera in one hand.

LOL on the typing one-handed! I'm surprised you left it untouched while you snapped its picture! :) Nice looking rig, and I wonder if the black chrome is more durable than paint? I'd think so. That's the pricy 12585 lens hood? The half-case looks generous at the sides -- plenty of clearance for the strap lugs I guess? Now you'll have to post some Leica pics!

MMMmmmm ... V nice Todd, but your not helping my Leica lust one bit :D

'One-hand-typing' - Todd you are now a true fondler! ;)

Oh..so many jokes could be cracked here...but I'm not going there... :)

rsilfverberg,
are you accusing me of being a Leicabator? I mean sure, I can't keep my hands off it and maybe I've rubbed some of the paint off already but I know when to stop......I think ;)

Todd

Well here's a quiz for you so that you can do a self-test;

1) Do you smile when you SEE the camera?

2) Have you ever uttered any moan-like sound just from feeling the camera or looking through it's viewfinder?

3) Have you asked people in your family more than 3 times in one day if they don't think your new camera looks great?

4) Are you considering buying books to learn more about accessories and lenses that you most never will actually buy - but you want to know about them anyway..?

5) Have you given your Leica a nick-name?

6) Do you feel that you are more of a photographer when using your Leica and you have caught yourself smirking at the guy a few feet away from you using an auto-everything camera with mega-zoom and secretly snickered 'A real photographer doesn't need all that'...?

7) Do you think...your camera is....pretty?

8) Have you started to subscribe to Leica-forums and distribution letters and feel that you are now part of a 'club'?

9) When you look at your photos do you see something there that you've never seen before and you are convinced can only be achieved with a Leica and Leica glass?

10) Have you considered going on the Leica factory tour in Solms should you find yourself in Germany?

Interpreting your answers:

Number of times you answered yes:
1-3: Don't worry, you're sane. Nothing wrong about liking a high-quality camera.

4-6: Hm, maybe slow down a bit on the fondling there big fella - girls are nice as well you know.

7-9: Put it down. Walk away. Check yourself into Leica Fondler Anonymous immediately. Better yet, send it to me - you shouldn't be trusted to be alone with it anyway.

10: You are wearing a Leica leather-thong and right now you are reading this with just one free hand.

uhmm......I scored an 11 1/2, and I've seen your Leica thong pic on another site.
Obviously you've had some formal training in deprogramming Leicaphiles, so tell me doc, what can I do about this, I picked up my Yashica GSN to exercise the shutter and when I pressed the release it was soooooooooo loud I think I burst my ear drum!

Todd

Todd, not much you can do now. You've crossed over. The Leica thong will soon be matched with the Leica leather-wrist-support used to help ease the pain that the repeated Leica-fondling inevitably will lead to.

But you may look at it from the bright side.

You will become one damn fast one-handed typer :)

Its alright, you'll get over it when you grow up. And thanks for the birthday greeting.
