i love the matt finish on the r4a.

talk about stealthy, this camera finish is way better than taping the few bits of white lettering on a glossy finish camera if you want to remain low key.
and i like how it feels too!

so you may have guessed by now that my r4a showed up and that i really like it.
the r4m finish is a beauty, no doubt, but if i had to choose...

anyway, i remember reading some comments about the matt finish being the only bad thing about the r4a but i don't understand them.
so i was wondering if the r4a owners who don't like the matt finish might pipe in here and talk about it some.

just curious.

What did Matt ever do to you? ;)

I like the matte finish, myself. Less glossy. But some like shiny things. It's good to have options!

Just a personal preference. I don't like the matte on my R4A and I don't like the black paint on an MP. I like just a regular black anodized finish like on Leicas or Nikons or whatever. I don't like "different" I guess.

I agree i think the matte finish is superb looks and feels great,I would say it is the same finish as my R3a but only in gray if you know what i mean.

I'm never too fussed about finish but I do notice and do have preferences. The R4A finish is just fine for me too. So I'm not quite sure if people don't like it or are really stating a prefence for the glossy finish.

That's the extent of my deep thoughts for today!

I think it looks and feels great when it's new, but what I really dislike about it is that it sucks up grease marks and starts to look shiny really quickly (like a cheap suit, as I like to describe it). And it's not just temporary grease marks - I've only shot about 20 rolls with mine, and it's already permanently shiny around the corners and where my fingers go.
