If you were to download firmware these days for your M9, which firmware vetsion would you dwnload and why? Thanks.

The last from Leica's website, as it is the most stable and addresses some SD card issues that bugged earlier firmwares. It has just one bug: the camera can lock up if it is set to "discrete" and you shoot bursts. However that is more like operator error, because the combination makes no sense.

Is there any possibility of Leica addressing it? I prefer the discrete mode as it feels like I am manually cocking the shutter between frames. I also like to make 2-3 exposures of a given subject. Not in rapid sequence. The M9 would invariably lock up and I would then have to half press to unlock it. Has Leica ever acknowledged this?

Hi Raid,
Sounds like you have camera back. Glad to hear it if that's the case.
The one before last would be my choice if you are not using the affected cards. I also believe there may be a recent lens code or two in the latest update that may or May not affect you. The discreet mode bug in the last update is serious enough that I would avoid it if I were you. Please the L- Camera Forum for more specific info on M9 firmware differences.

I would say the chance is rather slim to nil.
If Raid got his camera back Leica will have updated it.

If it's not broken don't fix it.
One of the most important rules ever !
I don't know which firmware my M9 is running on (3 years old) but I specifically asked Leica NOT TO update the firmware when body and 2 lenses were in for adjustment. I have no SD card or battery issues. I do not care about any firmware update that fixes stuff I have not issues with but creates other problems.

I downloaded the firmware, but the M9 still has the half-screen-is-showing problem.
It has to go to NJ.

Sorry to hear that.

Thanks. It seems to be part of what can happen to cameras.

It should have been there a week ago. Tinkering is not going to replace your sensor. Firmware has nothing to do with this kind of fault.I downloaded the firmware, but the M9 still has the half-screen-is-showing problem.

I agree with that. I'm running the one before the most recent, and all is well...
