One of the most STUPID thing I did in my life:
I updated my R-D1"S" with R-D1's new firmware...the one that an R-D1 user uses to update their R-D1 to an R-D1"s"....
What was I thinking? The one I bought IS an R-D1s!
Maybe that's why I got those weird white balance result.... Or maybe not, since everything functions like an R-D1s. Except for that, in the "LCD Brightness" window, the firmware version shows "Ver. 1.0" instead of "R-D1 Ver.2.0".
I googled "Epson R-D1s + firmware", and surprisingly found that there is NO R-D1s firmware available for download. Not any.
Maybe it's alright, but I don't like to leave a big question mark in my head. So, please let me know if you've found any copy of the original R-D1"S" firmware.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks but that's where I got myself into trouble with.... (It's a great site, please don't get me wrong; it was I that was too stupid to got it wrong and installed the "R-D1 to R-D1s" firmwrare update into an "already-is" R-D1s.)
Rich's site is the most informative one for the R-D1, but I just can't find any firmware for the R-D1"s" anywhere.

You won't find any firmware info for the R-D1s because there is no one for it. It comes with latest version... if you install the latest version I guess you will be fine since you still the same one you already have

Still trying to See.
I don't think you would have done any harm. It will just have reinstalled the version you already had.
I believe that while this firmware shows as Version 2.0 when you upgrade an R-D1 the R-D1's shows it as Version 1.0, which of couse it is for that revision of the camera. There has only been one firmware change.

New firmware was released for the older R-D1 when the R-D1s was announced. You can still find it on the Epson site. Follow my link above. The only difference between the two is the firmware (and the "s" that was added to the R-D1 engraving).

Thanks to everyone for the replies.
If the only difference between the R-D1 and the R-D1s is the firmware, then I should just be fine, since what I did was just installing the same firmware into my R-D1s.
Yet this "firmware searching tour" lead me to another sad truth: Epson has really abandoned the R-D1(s). None of the related software support Mac OS 10.5 yet....

The firmware you tried to install would have failed checksum, and even if it appeared to have "installed", it didn't.
You still have the R-D1s "Version 1" firmware in your camera, which is the same as the R-D1 "Version 2".

I'm running Epson RAW on a Mac running 10.5.2. Don't know if that's part of the software you're referring to ... thought I'd mention.

I used to have the original R-D1 and I update its firmware as soon as I got it, but as I said in my last post there is no firmware updates for the R-D1S since already comes with the latest one, so, the only thing he did is to reinstall the same firmware he already have.
