Great news! Fuji continue to impress me.
Can the "preview exposure in manual mode" on the LCD be accomplished on the XE-1? I can't for the life of me find the menu to control that. The only option I have with that particular icon (checkmark with dot in upper right corner) only seems to control length of image review time. I don't have my manual handy. Any ideas?

I tend to get shot down occasionally for overenthusiasm. I don't care! I am jumping up and down right now! Thanks Fuji!

no classic chrome for X100?
would've liked to try that magic, has a lot of tam-tam lately.

Still no way of disabling that damnable Q button that my thumb continually toggles when I do not want it to. I suspect most who carry their camera by the grip with one hand share my frustration.
That is the only fix I am looking for.

bob, do you use a thumb thing?
makes all the difference.

Joe: no, I use a grip. I carry the camera by the grip in my right hand and my thumb naturally falls on the Q button as I move along. It comes no where close to where a thumb thing would be.
My problem is when I see someone I want to photograph, rapidly visualize the image, position myself, and then raise the camera to immediately shoot; I find the camera showing all those Q button options thus preventing me from immediately taking the shot I intended. By the time I have reset the camera, the subject has reacted to me and my intended photo is gone.
This extra step is not a problem for those who raise the camera then analyze, then twiddle dials, then foot zoom, then finally take a photo. But my style is to be taking a photo within a fraction of a second after I raise the camera into view. Too many times the inadvertently set Q button options keep me from the photo I want.

the thumb thing helps (along with the grip) to maintain a firm hold but it also keeps the thumb away from hitting the back of the camera.
i found one for 2 bucks, made of plastic, on ebay...maybe give one a try and if you like it then consider a better metal one...

I suppose any hope for color selection in "focus peaking" for Xpro1 and XE1 should be abandoned
This is the 2nd FW update since peaking was introduced to those models and we still do not have it. Oh well...

In the end Fuji is like every other brand: want the real cool features, buy the new camera. No company can survive if no new products are bought.
Maybe.
The coolest feature of these cameras is you can mount their XF lenses on them.
Both of mine still do that and produce wonderful results !
You're right though. Some things they will not give away. Again... Oh well

Fuji is so clever. Lot's of new features for X-T1 and X-E2. And a single stupid feature for X-Pro and X-E1 so they can claim that they even support the old cameras. Perfect marketing.
These cameras (xp1 and xe1) are getting pretty long in the tooth. While I would agree w/ u that it would have been nice to c some other features like the new classic chrome, but Fuji is a business. What other camera companies would even continue support of a camera (xp1 or x100) that is coming up to around two years old. Some other feature maybe somewhat hw dependent (xe2 vs xe1) and thus not an option for porting the feature into the older hw based on cost of sw resource usage.
For me, an xp1 and xe1 user, I can pass on this sw upgrade.

what?
The X-E2 gets an intervalometer feature. I'm jealous... that could be stop-motion fun.

I am looking forward to the Remote for my X-E2...
In practice, it will allow me to touch the preview on my phone anywhere, and the camera will AF on that spot......
if it is the same as the X-T1 function. Great for waist level street like a TLR.
