have any of the firmware updates added more sd card options as part of the update? got a 4 GB lexar card that the m8 won't format and am wondering if anybody has had a similar situation that was remedied by firmware updates eventually- or do i just have a card that's gonna be useless for the m8? and, any idea why the m8 will work with other 4 GB cards but not the lexar one, especially considering it works with other smaller capacity lexar cards?

I think it only works with one 4G card. Check Leica website for latest. I have not heard of anyone who uses anything larger than a 2G card. 2G cards work fine for me, not sure i could fill one up. But then if I did and it croaked, i would have lost all the images, so the 2G card is more attractive.

only transcend card?
only transcend card?
I think only the transcend 4gig card will work. I don't think it's a brand issue but a format issue. I don't think the M8 supports any SDHC cards, only SD. The transcend 4gig is SD, not SDHC.
I'm guessing your Lexar 4 is SDHC.
Maybe new firmware will allow SDHC.

it is sdhc, yep. guess that's the problem. had heard lexar was good to go with the m8 and had heard it took up to 4gb cards, and unfortunately just mashed those two assumptions together without having seen the list of compatible cards first. oh well. can't return it anyhow, i'll just wait for that (hopefully) forthcoming firmware upgrade... at least it came with a free card reader!
thanks for the info

same thing. I have a sandisk 4bg sdhc just waiting for the new firmware upgrade to allow SDHC.
I found a Transcend 4mg SD card on-line and they sent me 1 gb sd card (off brand) "by mistake." I can seem to find the Transcend in US.

My Red Dot Glows For You
I use a "Patriot" brand 4GB SD card, which works just fine. Can't tell if it's SDHC or not, but it works. I don't trust SanDisk cards anymore, I've had four die on me; I like Lexar cards, but I've been using Patriot memory for many years now, and I know what to expect. Depending on what type you buy (or when you did), they're built in the U.S. or in Taiwan.
