I have liked what many of my friends are doing with XTOL (with it's S-shaped curve) so I just whipped up a batch for the first time. Mixing was quite easy, I was really pleasantly surprised. I had the water at about 75 degrees or so and it was a breeze to mix, then transfer to air tight bottles.
I'll be developing a few rolls tonight and I look forward to seeing how it compares to my regular developers, Rodinal and HC110. I'll be using XTOL as a 1-shot, no replenishment.

Yeah water temp does help the mixing. First time I mixed a batch it was with garage temp water (upper 50s F). Hah! I was stirring that tub for what seemed like an hour trying to get it to dissolve!

I think either you or Mike mentioned that when we talked about XTOL. I remembered and took your good advice!

I hope that you used distilled water to mix the stock. In my opinion, xtol is fool proof.

Yup. I went and got some nice fresh distilled water earlier today. I use it with everything, Rodinal and HC110 included.
Thanks for the tip though!
