I've handled these a lot, but have never owned one until now. I like the small feeling.

So what is the proper hipster style strap to use with a chrome one? It currently has a small black nylon one widened at the shoulder with some grippy cloth sewn on, but I'm thinking there must be something more hipster out there ... ?

I am not sure if I will put film in it or not, it is very minty, so I wouldn't want to wear it down fast.

Steve Huff "pimped out" his X100 with a red strap from A&A (I think). I'm not sure if it qualifies as hipster gear, but I think it looks pretty cool.

Thanks for the suggestions, those are too pricey, I think I will either use no strap, a gordy which I have, the existing one, or a domke gripper or leica nylon which I already have.

I have a couple of the Arnuvo straps but I never have seen them available on line any where else but their own site.
I think they were about 25 or 30 USD at the time I got them.
Ampguy, I think the proper hipster strap would be one of those multi colored guitar style straps from the '70s...I believe I still have one I'm not using. If you want it let me know.

I am happy with my arnuvo straps on my Bessa R (leather, black) and on my R-D1 (woven, grey).

Here is one example: http://arnuvo.com/index.php?salegdn...iew&ctpose=ABDAAJ&ctno=469&otype=6&olist=100&

Their website is korean only, but i am sure you'll find an english shop page with them on display...

Stainless steel "snake chain"

Stainless steel "snake chain"

On eBay search for "snake chain" in the camera section. You may need to add "stainless steel". I got a vintage old-school Voigtlander one, in-box, and use it on an M4. There is a fellow who sells new-made ones for under $20 and makes a big point of "not overcharging". I had one of those on a chrome R3m. For a light camera (Bessa Rx) the neck-wear is just fine. The weight-per-area isn't unmanageable.

Though not adjustable for length, the look is totally retro. You may adopt a turtle-neck apparel look - one minus is the fact that the chainlink things catch ahold of the li'l hairs on the nape of your neck and, well, wear a collared shirt.

shoelaces. through strap lug, tie knot. bonus hipster cred if they're highlighter colours. buy a pair at walmart for the irony.

and afraid to use it?

None of the ideas mentioned (except shoelaces) have any hipster cred. You need an old wide strap, either from the 70's or modeled after the ones from the 70's, with crazy colors printed on it. Something like a seatbelt but flashier. Actually a seatbelt would work too -

If you want some serious cred, try places like etsy.com which offer obscure handmade products from sellers from places like Portland, Oregon (obviously the most hipster city on earth). You can't go wrong.

these are interesting

these are interesting

but the lack of length control is not good. I'm not sure this kind of strap is my style.

No need for anguishing over the precious mintiness of your new camera.
Film will wear it down only on the inside, where nobody can see it.
