I've had my R-D1 for a few weeks now and I thought I'd share my impressions (like everybody does I guess). It's a great camera, and a natural step from bessa R2A (which I still have). It handles amazingly, feels like a film camera, and it goes under the radar. it's a little big for a RF, but not bad. I've been really happy with the image quality so far. I wish it had an ISO 100 setting, but I can live without it for now. I feel images are good up through 800. At 1600, it's hit or miss, depending on lighting, but the grain/noise isn't as offensive as some cameras out there. I think the great thing about is it that I shoot more. I'm more willing to take risks than with film, and it's great not being locked into a film speed. I think my summer plan is to load my R2A with 100 speed film for sunny days and use the R-D1 for everything else.

I picked up some b&w film that came back the other day, and man the prints were beautiful. But once I scanned the negs in, it lost a little. Maybe it's my not-so-great scanner, but I think the R-D1 can hold its own unless using really a good scanner. But overall it's a great camera, and I'm really psyched I picked one up. Here's an image I took last night at a bar with some friends. The lens is the cv 35mm 1.2. ISO800 at 1/35 at 1.2
