First field test with Sigma dp2

Got my SIgma dp2 used a few days ago and artcologne (an art exhibition) was the ideal place to test how this camera works for me and if.
I´m pretty happy with it, although i need more practice.
I just want to share some pictures with you and comments about processing and composition are welcome 😛

I really like the look the fovean sensor produces ... aside from the complaints about focusing and slow write times these are a great little camera IMO.

I particularly like the way it does black and white.

I did it post with sigma photo pro. An easy tool for a newbie in post processing. Just a bit slow, but that could also be my laptop 🙂.

As for the af complains of many users: It is no issue for me, i could not focus faster with a manual lens and zone focus is really easy with the dp2.

I like the second set more than the first. The first seemed a little random, like you were getting used to the compositional factors of the DP2. The second set seems better to me.

The colours and the use of DoF in the photo of the girl blowing bubbles is great. The last photo is also cool, although the focus seems weirdly off for the composition. If the focus was on the guy with sunglasses, it might have been better if he was really in focus, not just 'more' in focus than the others. Were you using hyperfocal technique with some of these? That can lead to some misfocusing effects if you're still getting used to it.

Your are right, the first set was also my first time with the camera.
I used zonefocus for the bubble picture and wanted just the bubbles in focus.
In the last shot, the camera misfocused, but ich like the result.

To be honest, i just played around with an old zorki and spotmatic, but film is not my thing. The dp2 is my first serious approach to photography🙄
