Update on battery life. Right now the sigma battery is in there and is doing much better than the wasabi. The sigma was charge overnight while the wasabi had about a 3 hour charge. At 2/3 charge level and 358 shots of which 35 were using flash and 70% were mid size raw files (50% mid size for wasabi battery).
Gary
The Sigma battery finally died at 448..
- maybe 60 % mid size raws
- 45 flash shots
- maybe about 6 format flash card cycles
- most of the time the LCD was off
- af assist light is always off

Not really!
We know you were baptised in Fuji kool aid a long time ago!![]()
I think the Ricoh grd has won him over lately though.
Right now I use mainly my Fuji and Sigma camera the mostly..

True, depending on my lens need I use the X-Pro1 w/ 35mm, the X100s with 23mm, and the Ricoh GR with 18mm. I prefer the 18mm on the Ricoh to the 18mm on the Fuji (whether the zoom or the prime). The Sigma is a special occasion camera that I use when I have a specific purpose or I'm bored of the others.

Some size comparison
Some size comparison
Sigma SD1m w/ 50f1.4 alongside my DP1m and DP2m
Size comparison - Sigma SD1m and Nikon F3. They both have their respective 50f1.4 lens mounted.

That Sigma lens is impressively chunky! Looks like you've got yourself a nice set-up, Gary.
Now if only I could get 400 shots from a DP Merrill :bang:

Just as an update.
I was at the Monterey aquarium yesterday. I had both my sd1m and my xe1 w/ 27 pancake lenses. My intention was to use the xe1 in the aquarium and sd1m for the outdoor shots. Everything worked as planned until my Fuji 27mm died on me.
When I switched over to the sd1m w/ the 17-70f2.8 to4, even at 17f2.8, there were a lot of shots that would not lock af at all. The same type of shots that the Fuji xe1 would get af lock on. I even noticed a Nikon one shoot a burst of maybe 7 shots next to me one time while I was trying to get focus lock.
Of course there are places in the aquarium that are so dark, I noticed that guys w/ Nikon dslrs were not using them.. But instead chose to use their iPhone video instead.
So why did I not use manual focus? Extremely poor eyesight in terms astigmatisms that are not correctable even w/ hard contacts. I need mag view plus focus peaking to get correct focus..
Anyway, I looks like anything worst then iso 1600, f2.8, under 15th second, af lock is iffy. The Fuji had no problem there...
Anyway, the xe1 was my intended camera for the aquarium. It will be interesting to c what usable shots I get.
