First M and about to buy a 35mm lens

Hi Shango. I was in exactly the same situation as your goodself up to a few weeks ago. I had a mamiya 7 and a Nikon F3 (plus some lenses) to trade. I knew I wanted a Leica (probably an M6 as I wanted 100% manual - but with a meter) but I had no clue which lens.

Ultimately, I had to go with what I could afford from the shop where I did the deal. I ended up with a lovely M6 in nice conditio and a Canadian-made Summicron-M 35mm/f2. I still haven't got a clue as to how this differs from an Aspherical version or a German made Cron-M but (and this is THE important bit for me) I am deliriously happy with the results I get.

My photos are not in the same league as many of the experienced RFF members but I'm working on it. Ultimately, the body and lens are simply tools. Yes they affect the final image but I doubt they have as much influence as the lighting, time of day and subject matter.

Buy the best quality and condition you can afford and I'd be amazed if you could go wrong......

Best wishes. Paul.
