Hi there,

Some of you know me, most of you don't, but I'm a 25 year old recent graduate, well... as of June 2006, of the Brooks Institute of Photography with my BFA in Professional Photography, majoring in Advertising Photography (because it let me have the most electives, haha 😀 ) Now I'm trying to get into a Masters program to get my MFA before I have to go back to the full time work force; I'm waiting to hear back from admissions offices now, come spring I should know where, when, or if I have to pack up again and move on out.

Anyway, I went over to London for my third time in mid December of last year, 2006, and took my black Zeiss Ikon ZM and a few lenses with me (50 Summicron, 28/3.5 Voigtlander, and the Voigtlander 15/4.5 Super Wide Heliar).

So here they are, let me know what you think, I love feedback, critique and critical thoughts. Just dont be an ass, 😉 I previewed them at the last Seattle RFF meet.

Just please remember, it's a really simple flash gallery I did up tonight, not a lot of time on my hands lately, and their just ordered in the manor that I took them; OK, enough babbling from me.

Alright, all the best, hopefully you'll enjoy, and hopefully I posted this in the right place,

Peter, you have a fine sense for the dark. I especially like the unfocussed images, and the strong contrast. Thanks for sharing.

Peter

Really enjoyed those images, you have a great eye for shape there.
I lived in London for 2 years and you have captured the dark grity almost dirty side of the city very well there especially the tube i can almost smell it again! Its a great urban landscape to shoot, i must go back sometime with camera!

Stuart.

Thank you guys for the wonderful compliments, I like dark places, and oddly have an affinity for a lot of "dark" or blacks in an image.

I shoot a lot of pushed film, mainly 400 HP5 at 800 or 1600. I like the grain and deep blacks.

London is a fun place to shoot Stuart, everyone is so hustled, and there is a sense of detachment when you are there, it aids in shooting people because they are so caught up in their own space that they ignore you. It must be because of all the tourists like myself, haha. The underground definitely has a smell to it, haha, but I have to say that Barcelona's tunnel system has it topped. 😀

Thank you again guys,

peter,
i go to RIT for photography, so im kind of surrounded by those pictures of railings, chairs on a sidewalk, a seagull centered in the frame, etc. i liked a lot of what you did shoot. usually all of my 35mm work is tri x pushed to 1600. i also love the blacks it produces, and the grain and contrast. i was merely making a reference to what i have seen here at school and what you produced in london, and how all of this "student" work has a certain quality to it. It was interesting to see a brooks ad major show some street photography.

Ah, I see now, I was just curious as to what you meant. I see what you mean now, I hadn't thought of that. We didn't have much of that kind of work at Brooks.

I'm an odd Brooks Student, haha. But oddly enough, there are more "artsy" kids at Brooks than most give credit to, however, most just don't graduate, haha.

I think it would be nice to be able to teach when I decide to retire, that way I can have full health benefits, stay connected in the photography community, give back through the sharing of my knowledge and experience, and with the MFA I don't have to worry about which schools I would put my applications into.

That and I still want to play for awhile before I really have to do anything work like, haha. 😀
