First photos with a 35mm f/1.2 Nokton

I just received tom_f77's Nokton that i brought off him today..

I tested it out at work and everything seemed to be working well.. here's a selection of some images should you want to know what the 35mm Nokton on an R-D1 looks like

Interesting, your exif on Flickr shows "Seiko R-D1". Mine shows only "R-D1". I'm using the upgraded firmware from the US Epson site.

guess mine was a japanese R-D1 originally? Dunno tbh.

I have the 35mm Nokton as well. It stays on my camera most of the time as I like the field of view. Follow the link to see more photos shot with the 35mm Nokton. The first 16 images were taken with the Leica 90mm Elmar Macro; all the rest are with the Nokton.

Nice shots guys. Are those black and white files straight from the camera? I have heard good things about the R-D1's black and white mode but hadn't seen any of the results myself. I am seriously considering one and if they black and white files look that good I might be buying one.

Those RD-1 BW pics are killing me, really nice tones.

The 35/1.2 has some really creamy bokeh but it's a pig of a lens as far as size goes. I bought mine off a member here and it stays on an M6 I bought off another member here 🙂, the lens makes the kit feel alot like an SLR outfit. The short throw of the focus makes this a fast focussing lens, great for the street. I really like it but I don't think I've shot but a couple pics wide open, here's one shot on Acros:

BTW, what is the focal length of this lens when converted for the RD-1, 52mm?

All these pictures are reminding me why I bought it in the first place, but in practice I always used the 35/2 - so nice at f2...

In the end I've sold both and bought a PII. Back to basics.

My B&W are straight out of the camera or with a yellow or orange filter applied in the Epson converter. My R-D1 lives in B&W mode. One thing I really like about it is that even though all the color infomation is there (RAW), the software keeps it in B&W so the entire workflow is in B&W, unless you choose otherwise.
