Dear all,
I still continue in honeymoon with my M7. It gave me back the pleasure of simple shooting, brilliant results. Well, results that will be brilliant, or so I hope, so far I'm improving. Each roll I learn more and more. So far, with 4-5 rolls taken, I'm learning the characteristics of each roll, when the highlights get clipped, and to improve my focusing and holding technique ( after all, so many years using 1Ds and now D2x, only SLRs , never holding or used a rangefinder before.. )
Here are my first observations : from the colour film, I do like a lot the NPH 400 Fuji PRO, albeit it does renders with a bit over mangenta cast on skin tones. Example , my beautifull girlfriend ( to me 🙂 ) .
But on non skin tones ( my dogs pictures ) the colours are nice and accurate.
One roll I did not like was the ILFORD XP2. The photos are just too contrasty ( the prints are just horrible ) and with a bit of tweaking I could recover some of the mid tones, but still, I do prefer the Kodak BW400CN. That is, for C41 BW roll. HP5 is another "level" 🙂
Well, I do promise to post here more decent photos ( when I have the 35mm scanner ) and decent post processed ( afterall my velvia roll is being processed ). But so far I'm very impressed by the sharpness of the 90 ASPH ( from 8 feet and beyond, got a landscape from it its razor sharp, it cuts 🙂 ) and the 35 F2 is absolutly vignette and distortion free. Very different photos from SLR world
