Many of you offered help and suggestions with my purchase last week. I've been having fun with the camera. Although it looks like it may need a shutter adjustment based on some dark/blurred areas on the right side of some shots.

All were shot with M6, 35/1.4 ASPH Summilux, Tri-X 400 film. Scanned with Nikon Coolscan IV, very little editing in photoshop for dust, scratch.

Check a few frames on an even toned subject at all speed 1/30 and up. Then do a brick wall to check focus, once with the camera up side down so the blur moves to the other side. A camera body can`t really be out on one side unless damaged or the lens mount not shimmed properly.

The lens is more likely the culprit if one side is out. Without additional bodies or the proper measuring tools, it will be hard to isolate a possible problem.

I took the advice and shot a test roll. I realized that the first problem I reported was just user error with my scanner. But in the process of shooting the test shots, I saw some vingetting, especially at smaller apertures and shorter shutters.

I'll look for a CLA near Chicago anyway... How often should this be done?

Intimacy. That's what you discover when you have a Leica in your hands. Intimacy. Delicate images. The object give you new eyes, to look trough the viewfinder. It's not simply a camera, it's an occasion for a new experience. Sweet pics, really.
