First Photos with the Canon RF 50mm f1.2 50/1.2 LTM

Your wish is my command; I just wanted to illutstrate the sharpness with a larger file image.

Thankyou Raid you're a true gentleman ... and you're right it was sharp OK! 🙂

ps ... I hate horizontal scrolling ... but it would have been ok to ignore me too ... I'm just a whinger! 😛

the hood is madly expensive

Not if you buy one for twenty bucks from heavystar!

This lens + neopan 1600 at night is a favorite combination of mine...

The best part about the lens I have is that Kevin had the infinity lock shimmed in the open position. I personally hate the infinity locks on all my lenses and have removed them. The one on the 50/1.2 is different and looks harder to dismantle, so I was glad that it was done for me.

I guess after having been CLA'd by DAG, the focus ring on my lens is amazingly smooth and effortless to turn.

I'll admit the original hood looks cool, but I can't justify buying one since I don't plan on using it. The lens is big enough, but to mount a hood that is as big as the lens is too much for me. I like being in stealth mode...that hood makes it look like you're aiming a small wind instrument at your subject. But Kevin did include a screw-in, non-vented B+W 55mm hood. Looks nicely made, but again, I don't use hoods unless they are built into the lens. I'm not sure how flare prone this lens is to necessitate the use of a hood all the time.

Very welcome, Edmund !

I just saw that you now have posted (linked) the large version of your photos. 🙂 That looks really impressive !!

Cheers,

Gabor

PS: Not the 50/1.2 LTM but 50/1.4 LTM became my favorite walk-around lens recently ... 😀

Mine seems to be very flare prone in artificial light ... downlights, spotlights etc! If light from one of these sources hits the front of the lens the image is usually a thowaway!

Here's Mine

Here's Mine

I put a LeicaGoodies "STEER" on mine, nice improvement IMO. This weekend, I went to Midwest Photo and found an old Rodenstock large format lenscap, that fits the original 50mm F1.2 hood -perfectly-. This one will not fall off, as the spring-loaded lenscaps often do. So I'm happy.
