Took my Contax II out for a test run today after replacing the old shutter ribbons.

HP-5, Contax II, and Jupiter-12 35mm f/2.8

Exposure: wild guess aka: sunny 16 (1/500th @ f/16)

Nice shots - looks like a good job on the ribbons too ;)

Just reminds me, I should get my J-12 CLA'd one of these days as it has a funny little catch at one point in the helix that bugs me when I use it.

Thanks..

The hard part about replacing the ribbons was stitching.

The J-12 I used for these shots just arrived yesterday and needs cleaning the old grease out and relubing it.

Check the Kiev survival site. He has instructions with photos on servicing this lens as well as the J-9 and J-11.

I thought I remembered that site had those instructions, but I'll probably wimp out since Eddie Smolov will CLA a lens for $25. I have enough fun trying to find time to shoot much less do maintenance on my gear

Great shots Colyn. Those Russian shutter straps seem to work perfectly on the Contax too. May I ask how you scanned?

When buying Russian shutter tapes you have to be careful which ones you get. Some are too thick (.015-.017) I specifically asked for the .010-.011 thick tapes.

I'm using a Epson Perfection 4490 Photo for now but plan to by a dedicated scanner..
